Opened a brush set and not sure where to start? You're not alone. Here's a simple guide to the brushes you'll find in most sets, and what each one is for.
1. Powder brush
The biggest, fluffiest brush. Use it to sweep loose or pressed powder over your face so your makeup lasts longer and looks less shiny.
2. Blush brush
Slightly smaller and rounded or angled. Smile, then tap it on the apples of your cheeks and blend up towards your ears. Light layers look the most natural.
3. Foundation brush
Dense and flat or rounded. Buff foundation into the skin in small circles for an even, smooth finish.
4. Concealer brush
Small and firm. Use it to place concealer exactly where you need it: under the eyes, around the nose or on a spot. Then tap gently to blend.
5. Eyeshadow brushes
A flat brush packs colour onto the lid, and a fluffy one blends the edges so there are no harsh lines.
Keep your brushes soft
Wash them once a week with mild soap or shampoo and lukewarm water.
Squeeze out the water, reshape the bristles, and let them dry lying flat.
Never share brushes, especially for eyes and spots.
