How to choose the right blush shade for your skin tone

Blush is the quickest way to look fresh and awake, but the wrong shade can look patchy or too bright. Here's a simple way to find a blush that suits you.

1. Find your skin's undertone

Look at the veins on the inside of your wrist in daylight.

  • Greenish veins: you likely have a warm undertone.

  • Bluish or purple veins: you likely have a cool undertone.

  • A mix of both: you likely have a neutral undertone, and most shades will suit you.

2. Match the shade to your undertone

  • Warm undertones glow in peach, coral and orange-pink.

  • Cool undertones look lovely in soft pink, rose and berry.

  • Neutral undertones can wear almost anything; peachy pink is an easy everyday choice.

3. Think about your skin depth

Fair skin suits light, sheer shades. Medium and wheatish skin, common in Bangladesh, looks great in peach, coral and warm rose. Deeper skin can carry richer colours like brick, berry and deep coral without looking chalky.

4. Pick a finish

  • Matte: soft and natural, good for oily skin and hot weather.

  • Cushion or liquid: blends into the skin for a fresh, dewy look and lasts well.

  • Powder palette: easy to build up and lets you mix your own shade.

5. Apply it the easy way

Smile, tap a little colour onto the apples of your cheeks, then blend up towards your ears. Start with a small amount: it's easier to add more than to take it away.
